After obtaining my Chemistry Diploma studying electronic spectra of carbon-clusters using highly-correlated quantum mechanical methods in the group of Prof. Sigrid D. Peyerimhoff at the University of Bonn in July 2002, I joined the from group of Prof. Klaus Wandelt (Bonn) for my Ph.D. thesis. I studied adsorption, interaction and reactivity of unsaturated organic molecules and aldehydes on Pt and Pt-Sn model catalysts with a combined experimental and theoretical approach using HREELS, LEED, AES, and DFT. Owing to a French-German collaboration that just started simultaneously with my PhD research, I was able to pursue the research for my Ph.D. thesis in Bonn and the group of Prof. Philippe Sautet at the Ecol Normale Suprieure de Lyon. I am particularly grateful to Dr. David Loffreda for his guidance and assistance and the continuing collaboration work. I defended my PhD on May 4th, 2007.
