Professor Cynthia M. Friend

Principal Investigator, Friend Lab
Theodore Williams Richards Professor of Chemistry, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology
Professor of Materials Science, School of Engineering and Applied Science

Director of the Rowland Institute at Harvard (http://www.rowland.harvard.edu/)

Director of Department of Energy sponsored Energy Frontier Research Center on Integrated Mesoscale Architectures for Sustainable Catalysis (http://efrc.harvard.edu/)

Controlling the chemical and physical properties of interfaces is central to many technologies and particularly in addressing global challenges in reducing energy costs and in developing alternative energy sources. The research in the Friend group focuses on important catalytic reactions and on making new materials with key chemical functionality. The major research themes in our current research are: Heterogeneous catalysis, Surface chemistry, Heterogeneous photochemistry, and Theory collaboration.
